Post production - waaaa!

I really do not enjoy Post Production. I think its partly to do with the fact that I loose control as I do not have the technical skills to execute what I want, but also because I am really impatient and having to wait so long to see things and get things the way you envision them and want them is extremely frustrating for me.

Lucky for me I have been given the coolest, funniest, most patient and talented editor out there - Jonno Woodford-Robinson (he has done such movies as “Eagle VS Shark” and “King Kong”). Jonno and I clicked from the get go (we have one key thing in common – the love of a tea break!).

Anyhow, we started by sorting all the footage that I had shot. Then it was choosing the best takes, followed by starting a very rough assembly of the movie. I keep getting told that I am very decisive and quick (I think that my family calls this trait “being bossy”!). In any case, whatever it is, it meant that we had done the rough cut by around 5pm (we have three days to get picture lock so this is really great)!

By the time we left the editing suite today, our cut was down to 3 minutes and 30 seconds. This means that we will spend tomorrow getting it down to 2 minutes and 55 seconds (5 seconds for credits) and will also start layering some sound effects etc. We will also start to pick out some music for the montage sequence (if we cant find something, my music supervisor Dave Whitehead (ahem – from the likes for “King Kong”, “Lord of the Rings” and “Pirates of the Caribbean”!) said that he will write something for me – hurrah!

Sadly I am not allowed to take photos at Park Road Post (boo)! Naturally being who I am, I still managed to rattle off a few frames before being told I could not so I apologize for the crappy images from me (the better ones were taken from their website!)…

  1. The very big advantage of this part is you no longer have to worry about the weather. It looks really exciting. Enjoy the experience. ox
